PROPERTY ASSESSED CLEAN ENERGY (PACE)
Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) is a tool for property owners to finance private property improvements related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and hurricane hardening through assessments levied on their property tax bill by special districts established for that purpose.
PACE home improvements include rooftop solar panels, solar water heater, energy efficient air conditioning unit, cool roof, impact windows, insulation, and more.
The Sarasota County Commission adopted an ordinance setting the framework for a PACE program, and signed agreements with four PACE providers. Currently, there are two approved PACE providers in Sarasota County, as listed in the table below.

PACE financing is limited to energy and hurricane improvements and is only one of many options for how to pay for property improvements. PACE financing is neither offered nor endorsed by Sarasota County or any participating municipalities; they have only set the policy under which the authorized programs must operate.
Like any financing, PACE comes with significant risks that must be understood fully before entering into any agreement. It is strongly recommended to receive multiple quotes from contractors on both the improvements and the financing. Property owners should also ask detailed questions of your PACE providers so that you have the best understanding as to your best financing option.
Sarasota County hosted three workshops on financing energy and hurricane improvements for your property, using tools like PACE. Held in May and June 2019, the workshop series included a live webinar, which was recorded to allow for future viewing. The webinar contains key information about PACE and other, similar financing tools available, and can aid viewers in making knowledgeable decisions about which energy financing option(s) might best suit their needs.
