Study Objective

The Consultant shall identify and evaluate optimum preliminary roadway alignments for four (4) roadways identified for future extensions or widening. The need for these systems and facility improvements are identified in the Sarasota County Year 2040 Future Thoroughfare Plan. The optimum roadway alignment for these facilities shall minimize potential community, environmental, and economic-related impacts.

The roadway segments to be studied include the following:

1.  Dove Ave. - Hawkins Road to Lorraine Road - new two (2) lanes (2.21 miles)
2.  E. Venice Ave. - Jacaranda Boulevard to N. River Road - widen from two (2) to four (4) lanes (2.32 miles)
3. Venice East Blvd. - extend from National Boulevard to Manasota Beach Road and Manasota Beach Road to Keyway Road [(two (2) segments] - new two (2) lanes (2.14)
4. Keyway Rd. - from SR 776/Englewood Road to West Villages Parkway - new four (4) lanes (4.01 miles)

The results of the studies shall serve as an initial guide to establish roadway and pond right-of-way requirements as part of the planned roadway extension, with potential revisions to the drainage system, lane widths, design speed, bicycle lanes/sidewalks/multi-use paths, lighting, and landscaping.

This Work Assignment includes the study of all four roadways and all segments listed above. The tasks described in this Scope of Services will be completed for all roadway segments.
