Starting June 21, Sarasota County will be using a pavement preservation product called Reclamite on county roads. Through a contract with Pavement Technology Inc, this asphalt rejuvenation treatment will replace the vital ingredients that have been lost from the pavement binder over time due to exposure to the sun's UV rays. This preventative maintenance process is a cost-effective way to extend the life of the pavement, helping Sarasota County protect one of our largest assets and increase the pavement service life. When sprayed on the road surface, Reclamite is initially pink colored to check the product coverage on the roadway before it is completely absorbed into the pavement. The pavement is then lightly sanded to improve friction until the product gets absorbed and the sand is vacuumed the next day.
The areas covered this year include:
Angus Acres, Bent Tree Village, Clark Lakes, Clark Meadows, Country Place, Country Wood Estates, Deer Hollow, Denham Acres, Gulf Gate Manor, Myakka Estates, Newtown Farms, Northgate Center, Palmer Farms, Sarasota Golf Club Colony, Shadow Oaks, Spring Lake, Sunbeam Acres, Swartz Sub, Sylvan Lea, Venice Gardens, Wyndham, Lakewood Ranch Blvd (Fruitville Rd – VOLR Limits), Ibis St. (Serenoa Dr – Areca Blvd) and a few roads in South Venice area.
Residents in these areas will be notified ahead of time by Pavement Technology Inc crew with the help of door hangers. Work is scheduled to end July 20.
