Sarasota County's Professional Engineer Development Program (PEDP) is a 4-year employment experience for recent engineering graduates interested in becoming in becoming a Professional Engineer (PE). The purpose of Sarasota County's PEDP is to provide engineering graduates with experience in the fields of Civil and Environmental engineering, while supporting the county's mission and vision, leading to registration as a licensed PE in the State of Florida. The PEDP provides new engineers the opportunity to rotate through various disciplines based on organizational needs, individual preferences, backgrounds and specialized traits. |

Successful completion of the PEDP requires a combination of on-the-job activities and formal training be completed during the program's 4-year duration. Additionally, the PEDP trainee must pass both the FE and PE exams.
