Buchan Airport is owned by the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners. The County Administrator is designated as the owner and Transportation is designated to manage and collect fees for the airport.  It is governed in accordance with Ordinances dating back to January 1978, when Sarasota County received the airport, its underlying property and features from Mr. Peter E. Buchan, a Sarasota resident.
