Empowering Sarasota County to Save Energy, Water and Money
Energy Upgrade is here to help you save money and resources!
Energy Upgrade is a community resource hub and energy efficiency awareness campaign run by the Energy Program Specialist and a team of dedicated volunteers, also known as Energy Coaches. Our program helps everyone better understand their utilities costs and addresses the disproportionate energy burdens faced by Sarasota County's most underserved community members.

We are here to help through:
- Free workshops on energy-saving strategies for your home
- One-on-one consultations and home improvement support for eligible residents
- Guides, tools, and tech to help you save on energy and water

Borrow a Do-it Yourself Energy and Water Audit Kit
Have you gone through the five steps to saving (listed above on this page) and are ready to dive deeper into analyzing your home's energy and water use? Check out our Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Audit Kits through Sarasota County Libraries
Along with the step-by-step Home Energy and Water Evaluation Guide, the kit includes technical equipment necessary to measure your specific energy and water use. After gathering your data, you will learn the most impactful ways to save resources and money in your home system.
The guide is broken into two sections: the energy audit and the water audit. When you check out the kit from a library, you may choose to focus on only one or the other, or to address both at the same time. The two sections are designed to function independently to allow you that flexibility. The guide will even show you how to make sense of your utility bills, so you can get a firmer handle on how your product choices and behaviors influence the bottom line on your bills.
The kit and accompanying guide are not intended to be a replacement for professional services or advice. If at any time during the evaluation process you feel uncomfortable performing a task, stop and do not perform it! Your safety and welfare are our number one concern.
