Project Description
The Little Sarasota Bay Watershed Plan update is a timely project undertaken by Sarasota County to identify flooding and water quality hotspots in the Little Sarasota Bay and Blackburn Bay Watersheds. Based on this analysis, a list of potential conceptual projects and best management practices (BMPs) to mitigate flooding and water quality issues will be developed. Specifically, the project will:
- Assess the level of service for both flooding and water quality.
- Develop a list of potential projects (BMPs) for the capital improvement program (CIP).
- Provide public outreach.
- Prepare a report documenting the results of the assessment.
- Adhere to Community Rating System (CRS) Program and Comp Plan requirements.
- Build on previous work.
Community Workshops
During the Update, a series of five Community Workshops were hosted for the public to learn about the effort and to follow its progress. Participants provided valuable input to the consultant team and engaged in productive feedback and discussion. Agendas, minutes, and PowerPoint slide decks from each workshop are posted under Community Workshops in the right sidebar of this page.
