Project Description

Sarasota County’s Lemon Bay Watershed Plan update will identify flooding and water quality Level of Service deficiencies in the Lemon Bay Watershed. Based on this analysis, a list of potential project concepts and best management practices (BMPs) will be developed to mitigate flooding and water quality issues. Specifically, the project will:

  • Assess the level of service for both flooding and water quality.
  • Develop a list of potential projects (BMPs) for the capital improvement program.
  • Provide public outreach.
  • Prepare a report documenting the results of the assessment.
  • Adhere to Community Rating System Program and Comp Plan requirements.
  • Build on previous work.

The public is invited to attend a series of workshops to learn more about the project, its progress, and findings and to provide input or ask questions on the study to the consultant team. Zoom links to attend workshops are posted at the top of each workshop agenda (see right sidebar). Workshop minutes and PowerPoint slide decks will also be posted. A second series of public workshops will reach out to organizations and to neighborhoods where BMPs are proposed.
