A title search or property title search is the process of examining public records and retrieving documents on the history of a piece of real property. These types of searches are often conducted by title companies, closing agents, and individuals to find information about outstanding Public Utilities debt owed to the county before the sale or transfer of properties.

To ensure a clear title upon transfer of ownership of a property, any liens resulting from non-payment of utility fees must be resolved.

As of August 28, 2021 searches for Sarasota County utility liens are managed by Orange Data.

Follow these steps to begin the lien search process:

• If you do not already have an account with Orange Data you will need to complete a registration form here.
• If you have an account already, log in here.
• Follow the prompts to fill out your search request.
• Pay the $50 lien search fee.
• Submit your search request.

Orange Data will only report on liens issued by Sarasota County Public Utilities. A full search should still be made by the title company or real estate attorney.
