VISION STATEMENT
The Utility Engineering Division is an innovative water and wastewater leader providing high-quality technical services through Specific Measure Attainable Relevant and Time Based (SMART) technology in a safe, sustainable, environmentally responsible manner to support a growing utility and thriving community.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our high-performing Utility Engineering Division will deliver efficient, effective and reliable water and wastewater technical services that are resilient and add value both today and for the future.
The Utility Engineering division oversees and administers the asset management section, planning for current improvement projects as well as future utility expansion and utility regulatory compliance.
Asset Management develops and maintains the inventory of critical assets and administers important water quality initiatives like the Fats, Oils and Grease Management Program, the Backflow Prevention Program, and the Capacity, Management, Operations, and Maintenance (CMOM) Program, which works to prevent sanitary sewer overflows and mitigate the environmental and public impacts of such releases.
Planning staff coordinates with both internal and external stakeholders to analyze the current status of utility systems (water, wastewater and reclaimed water) and to develop both short-term capital improvement projects for immediate needs as well as long-term strategic plans to accommodate future demands and regional growth of the community.
Permitting staff oversees compliance with all local, state and federal regulations, including the Unified Development Code, Utility Code, and the Sarasota County Utility Manual.
