Sarasota County Public Utilities regulates three franchised utilities, one water and two wastewater systems in accordance with Article IV, Chapter 126 of the Sarasota County Code of Ordinances.
Customers who have questions regarding their utility bill and are serviced by one of these franchise utilities need to contact the utility company directly.

Bee Ridge Utility Corp. provides wastewater-only service to approximately 71 multi-family residential and commercial customers near the southwest intersection of Bee Ridge Road and Sawyer Road pursuant to a franchise granted by the Board of County Commissioners. The communities serviced consist of approximately 43 individually metered condominiums (Parkstone Condominium) and 28 commercial customers (Bee Ridge Medical Center) near the southwest intersection of Bee Ridge Road and Sawyer Road (see the Bee Ridge Franchise Area Map below).
The utility was initially granted a wastewater franchise on Aug.16, 1983, and the Board of County Commissioners authorized a 10-year Franchise Renewal Agreement on June 11, 2014. Water service to Bee Ridge customers is provided by Sarasota County.

Pluris Southgate, LLC provides water-only service to approximately 4,800 single-family and multi-family residential and commercial customers in the area, generally known as Southgate, pursuant to a franchise granted by the Board of County Commissioners, initially issued in 1958 and renewed in 2014.
On August 26, 2020, Pluris Southgate, LLC met the Sarasota County minimum filing requirements for an application seeking an increase in water rates for its customers in Sarasota County. The Application for Water Rate Increase hearing was held on March 2, 2021. On April 20, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners held a deliberative session regarding the Hearing Examiner's Recommended Order. On May 4, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2021-062 to deny the Hearing Examiner's Recommended Order.

Sylvan Lea Utilities, LLC provides wastewater-only service to approximately 104 single-family customers in the area, generally known as Sylvan Lea, pursuant to a franchise granted by the Board of County Commissioners. The utility was initially granted a wastewater franchise on July 11, 1978. On December 13, 2022, the wastewater franchise was renewed for ten years.
On November 18, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2020-260 authorizing the transfer of assets and franchise from Sylvan Lea, Inc. to Sylvan Lea Utilities, LLC. The transfer of assets and franchise was completed on July 21, 2021.
On December 13, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2022-266 granting the application of Sylvan Lea Utilities, LLC for the renewal of a Wastewater-Only Utility Franchise.
