Sarasota County Public Utilities is participating in the 2026 FSAWWA Drop Savers Water Conservation Poster Contest and we need YOUR submissions! Sarasota County students in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to submit an 8x11 poster designed to represent a water conservation idea, in slogan form, drawing form, or both. This state-wide contest helps to promote water awareness and the importance of conservation in our daily lives.
How to Enter?
Sarasota County schools wishing to participate in this competition should follow the guidelines below. All submissions are due by Feb. 13, 2026. Sarasota County Public Utilities will then select one winner for each age division among all the schools to be sent on to the Florida State division of the American Water Works Association for state-level judging.
Age divisions are as follows:
Division 1: Kindergarten and First Grade
Division 2: Second and Third Grade
Division 3: Fourth and Fifth Grade
Division 4: Middle School; Grades Six, Seven and Eight
Division 5: High School; Grades Nine, Ten, Eleven and Twelve

School Submission Guidelines:
Students should design their poster (horizontally or vertically) on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. Students may use crayons, paint, color pencils, or markers. No highlighters, photos, or computer graphics are permitted.
Please send in the original copy of the poster to the appropriate Sarasota County Schools representative. Do not scan or copy submissions.
On the back of the 8.5x11 poster, please write the following information:
- Student’s Name
- Student’s Grade
- School Name
- Teacher’s Name
- Teacher’s Email Address
- Parent’s Name
- Parent’s Contact Number
Please send kindergarten-5th grade submissions to Cheri Dame, 6th-8th grade submissions to Laura Lundberg, and high school submissions to Sarah Burkett.
Prizes
Prizes for county winners include:
- Artwork displayed at Sarasota County Administration throughout Water Conservation Month (April 2026)
- Artwork displayed on scgov.net
- Artists recognized by the Board of County Commissioners during the Proclamation of Water Conservation Month
- Trophy and certificate
