    Set Up Your Customer Self-Service Portal/Autopay

Attention Utilities Customers: Some customers may have recently received a letter with incorrect information. Please disregard this letter and wait for your next utility bill, issued after Nov. 12, to access your account or make a payment. Due to this inconvenience, no late and/or delinquent fees will be charged. Please bring all accounts current by Feb. 2. 

Important Announcement: The Sarasota County Board Commission has approved Rate Resolution 2025-177, passed on August 26, 2025. New water and sewer rates will take effect on October 5, 2025.

Sarasota County is committed to providing the best possible experience for its Public Utilities customers. We are steadfast in our commitment to the ongoing enhancement and refinement of our technology and infrastructure, ensuring seamless access for residents to enjoy unparalleled service excellence.

If you pay by check, this does not affect you.

There are many benefits for debit and credit card autopay customers:

  • Safe and highly secure online accounts.
  • Quick phone payments using a credit card or debit card.
  • Viewable online credit card information.
  • Viewable payment history and account balance.
  • Monthly autopayments.
  • Paperless billing.
  • Bill-pay reminders.
  • Management and payment of multiple accounts.

The portal also uses a more secure system that is ADA-compliant and offers an extra level of security for customers wishing to pay online. For more details, please check out the Customer Self-Service FAQs below.

How do I create a new account in the Customer Self-Service Portal?

Click the button at the top of this page labeled Create a New Account. Follow the prompts. You can also refer to the instructions below or watch this quick video now.

To set up Autopay in the new portal:

  1. Click on the Log In/Create A New Account icon at the top of this page. On the next screen, in the Login box on the right, click on Sign up now next to Don’t have an account? 
  2. Enter your information into the following fields:
    • First and Last Name, enter a password and click Next.
    • Enter your email address and click Next.
  3. Go to your email inbox and copy the 6-digit verification code you received from css.scgovutility.com and enter it in the Verification Code field and click Next.
  4. Enter the Account Number and Activation Code from your current bill (must have been sent after November 12, 2025). You will automatically be set up for paperless statements. To receive paper statements, slide the toggle button next to Enroll in paperless communication to the left.
  5. Click Create Account. You will be taken to your portal home page.

 

 

I pay by check; do I need to create a new account in the portal?

No, customers paying by check will not be impacted, and there is no need to create a new account. However, you can make a payment in the portal by check and even setup Autodraft/eCheck/ACH.

Do I have to create an account to make a one-time payment in the portal?

No. Customers can make one-time payments by clicking the button at the top of this page labeled One-time Payment.

I pay through my bank's bill pay online. Do I need to change anything?

When paying with your bank’s bill pay online, make sure your bank has the correct account number since a new one has been assigned to all existing customers as of Nov. 12, 2025. All new customers that sign up after that date can use the account number from their first bill. If you want to view your consumption and billing history, you can sign up for a portal account to see your usage, however, you do not need to use it to pay your bill.

What will I be asked during account setup?

During account setup, customers will be asked to complete an online form with the following information including:

  • Your Name
  • Email Address
  • Account Number and Activation Code (Both will be found on your bill). 

You will also be defaulted to receiving ebills which you can change during setup. The process is easy to follow and takes just a few minutes.

Will anyone share my customer information with and why?

The portal payment functionality still uses Paymentus functionality to help manage payments.

Paymentus may disclose your personal data to your biller, commercial providers and trusted business partners for a business purpose, which includes verifying your identity, to enable our compliance with applicable law and payment network rules when you make a payment or register access to your accounts, to process your payment instructions, to offer you additional channels through which you may receive information about your bills or to make payments, or to test or improve our services.
