The Sarasota County Commission adopted the new Unified Development Code (UDC) on November 27, 2018 with an effective date of January 1, 2019. The UDC updated and combined the county’s Land Development Regulations (former Chapter 74 of the County Code) and Zoning Regulations (former Appendix A of the County Code).

The county is initiating the 1st Cycle of amendments to the UDC (aka the glitch bill) starting on January 1, 2019 pursuant to Chapter 124, Section 124-38(c)(2). This 1st Cycle will focus on true glitches or scrivener’s errors that need to be corrected within the UDC in a timely fashion.

You are invited to share your thoughts on potential glitch issues that need to be addressed within the UDC. All proposed amendments to the UDC for this 1st Cycle should be received by the county by the close of business on February 15, 2019. Please submit suggested amendments for this 1st Cycle via planner@scgov.net.

These amendments to the UDC will be reviewed by staff and a package of amendments will be presented to the Sarasota County Commission (Board) for authorization in March of 2019. Final consideration is anticipated to be scheduled for Board consideration in April of 2019.

Please access the UDC in the Documents section below.
