Sarasota County works with numerous local organizations forming the T-Rec Coalition of Sarasota County. The Coalition is dedicated to offering organized therapeutic recreational programs designed for individuals with special needs as well as offering an inclusive approach to all recreation opportunities in Sarasota County. Monthly events including sporting events, pool and beach parties, walks, and the ever-popular dances take place at varying venues throughout the county.

The T-REC Coalition of Sarasota County is comprised of more than eight local agencies working together to provide year-round recreational opportunities for teens and adults with disabilities. Monthly activities take place at different venues throughout the county, and include dances, sporting events and much more. T-REC membership is free and includes a T-REC badge, lanyard, email notification of upcoming events and more. Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions for people with intellectual disabilities.

Some of the events and programming include Special Olympics Golf, Special Olympics Stand-Up Paddle, Special O’Laughics, T-REC Water Park Day, Special Olympics Aquatics County Competition, T-REC Pool Party, T-REC Costume Masquerade Ball and many more throughout the year.

We welcome individuals of varying abilities to participate in our programs and to visit our parks. We strive to offer programs designed for individuals with special needs as well as offering an inclusT-Rec program participants at a Baltimore Orioles gameive approach to all recreation.
