Sarasota County's Environmentally Sensitive Lands Protection Program (ESLPP) and Neighborhood Parkland Acquisition Program (NPP) are voter-approved and taxpayer-funded programs designed to acquire and protect natural lands and parklands.
Sarasota County’s 2016 board-adopted Parks, Preserves and Recreation Strategic Master Plan (PPRSMP) examines community recreational needs. It establishes desired levels of service and outlines implementation strategies. The PPRSMP will also guide the appropriate development of existing and new sites.
Park planning builds on the information documented, including inventory of existing conditions and needs assessments and gap analyses.
Prohibited conditions, uses and activities on or within county parks and beaches are outlined within Ch. 90, Article II, Sarasota County Code of Ordinances. Sarasota County has also established facility rules.
