There are miles and miles of trails just waiting for you! Sarasota County offers several great paved and unpaved bicycling opportunities. 


Birds flock to Sarasota county parks, you should too! Sarasota County is home to an incredible diversity of birds. Grab your binoculars and get ready to search the skies and shores for beautiful birds.


The Sarasota BMX track is the country’s oldest continuously running BMX track. In 2016, the track was upgraded and now includes an 8-meter ramp and dual-purpose amateur and supercross track. 

Boating and Paddling

Sarasota County has a uniquely diverse blend of natural areas to explore from the water. Paddle through mangrove tunnels and view wildlife estuaries, or boat down the intracoastal waterway out to the Gulf of Mexico.Get out and explore Sarasota’s beautiful waterways and coastal environment. Home to numerous bird and marine species our waterways and coastal environment offer many opportunities for wildlife viewing.


Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources offers camping at multiple locations. Primitive camping is offered at Carlton Reserve, Knight Trail Park and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park. Recreational vehicle camping is offered at Turtle Beach Campground. 

Equestrian Trails

Trail trotters can choose from miles of equestrian experiences with user-friendly features like designated horse trailer parking.


Enjoy deep sea fishing, surf casting, bridge fishing, shore fishing, or even fish while wading in grass flats! Get the information you need to catch the next "big one"!


Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources offers a variety of fitness opportunities throughout the county. 


Sarasota County has over 67,000 acres of natural lands to explore with a wide variety of hiking experiences. Whether hiking with your family or your dog, Sarasota County has a trail for you!


Sarasota County offers both indoor and outdoor opportunities to play pickleball throughout the county. From October through May, you can play pickleball inside eight of our air-conditioned, recreational facilities that offer a wide variety of play times. Outdoor pickleball courts are available year-round on a first come, first served basis.


Sarasota County is home to several great Olympic style rowing programs offering opportunities to all ages of wellness enthusiasts. The flagship is Nathan Benderson Park (NBP) which, in 2014, was awarded 2017 FISA World Rowing Championship. 


Looking for a unique outdoor experience? Shooters of all levels enjoy Knight Trail Park. Come visit the public pistol and rifle range and sharpen your target skills on the 78 covered shooting positions which include 12, 25, 50 and 100 yard ranges.

Spring Training

Sarasota County is currently home to one spring training team- the Baltimore Orioles. In spring 2019, a second team, the Atlanta Braves, will call Sarasota County home when they move to North Port for spring training. 


Sarasota County offers many different environments for swimming and aquatic exercise. The county hosts one Olympic size 50 meter pool and a 25 yard Instructional Pool as well as 35 miles of open water gulf beaches North from Lido Key to South Manasota Key.


Sarasota County has many tennis courts at parks throughout the county. Come play some tennis.
