The Real Estate Services Division acquires land and interests in land to accommodate projects in both the Capital and Non-Capital Improvement Programs.

Property is acquired in fee simple and easement interests through donation, purchase acquisition and if necessary, eminent domain.

Plat Vacations

For plat vacations, there is a non-refundable filing fee of $500 which helps defray county administrative costs. This fee does not include other fees petitioners will encounter. See the instruction sheet below for a detailed list of fees.

 

Street Vacations

For street vacations, there is a non-refundable filing fee of $500 which helps defray county administrative costs. This fee does not include other fees petitioners will encounter.

 

Property Exchange

For property exchanges, there is a non-refundable filing fee of $500 which helps defray county administrative costs. This fee does not include other fees petitioners will encounter.

 

Surplus Land

Real Property that serves no future use for the county may be declared surplus and sold. There are five methods for disposal of surplus property. 

 

Leasing

From time to time Sarasota County leases real property. Information concerning property available for lease will appear on this page with documents and instructions for bidding on a lease property.

 

Sarasota County Property Review

Sarasota County completed a review of all county-owned lands in May 2018.  As a function of that review, parcels were either designated for retention or potential surplus.  Click on the link above to view a summary of the property review.  Within the site you will find properties categorized in the following manner

Category A: Properties to be retained

Category B: Properties ready for surplus

Category C: Properties with conditions that are potential for surplus

Category D: Properties require further administrative review

Category E: Properties previously declared surplus

 

The information within the Property Review continues to be updated as additional information is available on the property status.
