Jonathan R. Lewis, ICMA-CM, was appointed County Administrator for Sarasota County, effective Jan. 16, 2018, having been with Sarasota County since April 2017.

Lewis and his wife have two children and have lived in Sarasota County since 2011. Before his appointment to County Administrator, Lewis was employed by the City of North Port, where he served as the City Manager from 2011 to 2017. He served as the Deputy City Manager of Palm Bay, Florida, from 2004 to 2011. He also served as the Assistant Town Manager for the Town of Belleair.

Lewis is a graduate of the University of South Florida, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He earned a Master of Public Administration from the College of Arts and Science at the University of South Florida. Additionally, he has completed the Senior Executive in State and Local Government Program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.   

He has previously served as President of the Florida Association of County Managers,  the Florida City/County Management Association, the Space Coast Public Management Association, and the Suncoast Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of County Administrators.
