Governing Legislation: Resolution No. 2026-103

Purpose:

The purpose of the Task Force is to review existing reports, studies, and findings related to Siesta Key beautification; to identify opportunities to enhance the appearance and character of Siesta Key; to evaluate specific focus areas, including, but not limited to: streetscapes and corridors, landscaping and vegetation, signage and wayfinding, public spaces and beach access areas, and cleanliness and maintenance; and to develop and present recommendations with respect to the matters described herein to the Board of County Commissioners.

The Task Force shall act solely in an advisory capacity, shall have no decision-making authority, and shall report directly to the Board of County Commissioners.

The Task Force may engage with residents, businesses, community organizations, and subject matter experts to inform its recommendations.

The Task Force shall provide periodic updates to the Board of County Commissioners as requested or at key milestones and shall submit a final written report with recommendations to the Board before the Task Force’s sunset.

Requirements: 7 members

1. The Task Force shall consist of seven (7) members as follows:

a. Each Commissioner will appoint one (I) individual to serve on the Task Force.

b. The remaining two members shall serve as at-large appointments determined by the Board.

2. Members must not be employed by Sarasota County, under contract with Sarasota County, or party to active litigation against Sarasota County during their service on the Task Force.

3. Members must meet all other qualifications in accordance with the Advisory Council Member Rules of Procedure that are not in conflict with this Resolution.

Term: Effective until December 31, 2027
