Governing Legislation: Resolution No. 2023-072; Resolution No. 2022-178 (petition procedures); Resolution No. 2022-177 (traffic control on private roads)
 
Purpose: Advise the County Commission and make recommendations on traffic, parking, speed regulations, safety, and the placement of traffic-control devices within unincorporated Sarasota County.
 
Requirements: 8 members

  • 1 Sheriff’s representative

  • 1 Florida Highway Patrol representative

  • 6 citizens, including one Students Taking Active Roles (STAR) Government representative; must be county residents and may not be employed by the county, town, city or state.

Term: 3 years; 1 year for STAR representative
 
Meetings: Quarterly - March, June, September, and December
