 History

This site became the responsibility of the county to operate and maintain in 1992 as the result of a dual taxation settlement between the city of Venice and Sarasota County Government.

The site was subsequently added to an existing inter-local agreement between the city and county that consolidated certain city owned parks with the county park system in 1978 (city owned, county operated).
