 Citizen Advisory Councils

Sarasota County values the participation and input of its residents in the decision-making process. We have more than 30 citizen advisory councils, boards and committees, with members appointed by the County Commission.

Each board focuses on a specific issue or topic. Membership requirements, meeting frequency and length of terms vary. To see a list of advisory boards and councils, select Board/Council List to the left.
Interested in applying for membership? You'll find a list of current vacancies, as well as applications and instructions to the right.
If you're interested in a particular advisory council, we encourage you to submit an application even if there are no current vacancies. We will keep your application on file for one year and reach out to you if a position becomes available.
We support government in the sunshine, as expressed in Florida's Sunshine Law. Advisory council members are required to use their county-provided email account exclusively for council business, and all applicants must complete and submit an acknowledgement that they have read and will comply with this policy.
We thank you for your interest in our citizen advisory councils and hope you will consider joining us.
