Sarasota County will celebrate America Recycles Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, with a free event where residents and visitors can learn about recycling and other sustainable practices.

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County is reminding all Floridians to get their flu shot before the height of the upcoming flu season. Flu activity can begin as early as October and last as late as May. The best way to avoid the flu this season is by getting a flu shot soon.

Phillippi Farmhouse Market has reopened at Phillippi Estate Park for the 11th year. The market, located at 5500 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Wednesday through April.
