The 9th Annual Sustainable Communities Workshop focused on “Growing Healthy, Resilient and Prosperous Communities".
Our expert speakers provided up-to-date information on community strategies and resources, including concrete action we all can take.
Residents, business leaders, institutions, government agencies and organizations gathered to learn through information-rich sessions and panel discussions. Community solutions shared included:
Access to local, healthy food
Community actions that address resiliency
Business choices for community prosperity
This year, workshop attendees were given a "What do you want in your Sustainable Community?" sticker to fill out and wear as an opportunity to share ideas with other people. See the Speaker/Presentation page for what attendees wanted in their Sustainable Community.
Growing a healthy, prosperous, and resilient community requires participation from everyone to identify and implement innovative and appropriate solutions that support community needs.
Attendees participated in afternoon facilitated discussion groups on the four workshop topics. Thoughts and ideas on how we can grow and sustain a healthy, resilient and prosperous community were shared and voted upon. See the Speaker/Presentation page for final results from the discussion groups.
Here’s what some of the attendees had to say about the 2014 workshop:
“Excellent as usual."
"A great learning experience.”
“Really great workshop. Loved the Keynote speaker.”
“Thanks for a great workshop! Met alot of great people!”
