Top 5 finalists announced for Sarasota Libraries' 2027 One Book Program

OneBook 2027 Top 5 Social 1200x900-PRINTSARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources has announced the top five finalists for its 2027 One Book, One Community program.

Each year, a committee reviews dozens of titles before selecting one book. The chosen author is invited to Sarasota County in March for community discussions and book signings at locations in north and south county.

The top five finalists for 2027 are:

  • "The Book Club for Troublesome Women" by Marie Bostwick – A novel about friendship, resilience and the power of women supporting one another.
  • "The Correspondent" by Virginia Evans – A story exploring connection, communication and relationships.
  • "Heartwood" by Amity Gaige – A layered novel about human relationships and everyday resilience.
  • "Kate and Frida" by Kim Fay – A story of friendship, creativity and self-discovery.
  • "Unread" by Oliver James – A memoir exploring memory, identity and the stories we leave behind.

Community members are encouraged to read the finalists, share their favorites on social media using #OneBook2027, and participate in related library programs and book clubs.

“It’s always an exciting time when the One Book Committee announces its top five finalists because many in our community treat it as a must-read list,” said Dr. Renée Di Pilato, director of Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources. “It’s a wonderful way to spark conversation and bring people together through reading.”
