SARASOTA COUNTY — Englewood residents looking to dispose of unwanted household items and yard waste can take part in an upcoming free community cleanup event.

Join Sarasota County and drop off your items from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 16 at Buchan Airport Community Park, where dumpsters for residential customers will be available at 1390 Old Englewood Road, Englewood.

Appliances, small vehicle tires (limit of four tires per household), and electronics, such as computers and monitors, will be accepted. Hazardous waste, including paint, oil, and gasoline, will also be accepted at the event.

Hazardous materials and electronics may also be taken year-round to the following locations:

• Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center (North), 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday)

• Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center (South), 250 S. Jackson Road, Venice (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday)

• Citizens’ Convenience Center at the Central County Solid Waste Disposal Complex, 4000 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.). Customers unloading items by hand must arrive at least 30 minutes before closing.
