SARASOTA COUNTY — It’s time for spring cleaning! Gather your discarded household items, yard waste, tree trimmings, and other garbage for a free community cleanup event. Join Sarasota County and drop off your items at Kensington Park from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 18.

Dumpsters for residential customers will be available at the following locations:

• Main site: Tee Road and Tee Lane
• Prudence Drive and Melgert Lane
• Randa Boulevard and 24th Parkway

Appliances and small vehicle tires (limit of four tires per household) will be accepted. Hazardous waste—such as paint, oil, gasoline, electronics, appliances, and computers—will be accepted at the main site only.

Hazardous materials and electronics may also be taken to the following locations:

• Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center (North), 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday)

• Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center (South), 250 S. Jackson Road, Venice (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday)

• Citizens’ Convenience Center at the Central County Solid Waste Disposal Complex, 4000 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.). Customers unloading items by hand must arrive at least 30 minutes before closing.
