SARASOTA COUNTY – It’s time to clean out the garage and gather discarded household items, yard waste, tree trimmings and any other garbage as Sarasota County hosts a free community cleanup in Nokomis from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 21.

Dumpsters for residential customers will be available at the following locations:

• Main site: Nokomis Community Park, 234 Nippino Trail E., Nokomis Community Center, South Parking Lot, Nokomis.
• The intersection of North and South River Boulevard at Adriatic Street (west side), Nokomis.

Appliances and car tires will be accepted at the main site only at Nokomis Community Park. Tires are limited to four per household and must be 25x16 inches or smaller.

Hazardous waste, such as paint, oil, aerosol cans and electronics will not be accepted.

Hazardous materials and electronics may be taken to one of the following locations:

• Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
• Citizens’ Convenience Center at the Central County Solid Waste Disposal Complex at 4000 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis. The center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Customers unloading items by hand must arrive at least 30 minutes before closing.
