SARASOTA COUNTY — Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources has launched “Culture Pass,” a new initiative that provides free or discounted access to local theaters and museums for adult residents with a library card.
Library patrons can reserve a Culture Pass online by using their library card and pin number. Current Culture Pass venues include Asolo Repertory Theatre, the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature, Urbanite Theatre, Big Cat Habitat, Imagine Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and more. New partners will be added in the future. A complete list of offerings can be found online.
“The Culture Pass program is a shining example of how libraries serve the needs of our community,” says Dr. Renee Di Pilato, director of Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources. “Culture Pass makes it easier for families to enjoy the rich arts and cultural experiences our community offers by reducing cost barriers and opening doors to learning and discovery.”
Most participating venues allow one pass per year, per patron. Patrons may also only have one active pass at a time. Passes may be digital or printable, depending on the venue, and typically must be redeemed in advance for ticketed performances.
To celebrate the launch of Culture Pass, the public is invited to “Flock to What’s New at the Library!” at Gulf Gate Library at 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19. This special evening will include interactive stations, entertainment and refreshments as Sarasota County Libraries showcases new innovative services and community partnerships.
