SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County has acquired property on Winson Avenue in Englewood. This is part of the county’s ongoing commitment to acquire parkland under the Land Acquisition and Management Program (LAMP). The closing date was Dec. 18, 2025, and the purchase price was $750,000.
The 0.48-acre property will expand the county-owned Indian Mound Park. It will also enhance public water access to Lemon Bay. The parcel includes approximately 105 feet of shoreline and opportunities for fishing, sightseeing and birdwatching.
“Adding this waterfront parcel to Indian Mound Park expands public access to the water and creates new opportunities for recreation,” says Nicole Rissler, Director of Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources. “It’s a meaningful investment in a waterfront park that will serve both today’s residents and future generations.”
Funding for the acquisition was provided through the Neighborhood Parkland Acquisition Program (NPP). Both NPP and the Environmentally Sensitive Lands Protection Program (ESLPP) are voter-approved, taxpayer-funded programs under the Sarasota County Land Acquisition and Management Program.
The program is designed to acquire and preserve lands that provide public access, support recreation and meet identified community needs while expanding existing parks and public lands.
