SARASOTA COUNTY — Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources is expanding hours at the Osprey Library and History Center. The facility is now open on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
These additional hours aim to improve access, address community feedback and strengthen public engagement across the county’s library system.
New hours (effective Dec. 1):
- Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Located at 337 N. Tamiami Trail in Osprey, the Osprey Library and History Center is housed in a 1927 schoolhouse near the Historic Spanish Point campus of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. Since the library’s establishment in November 2011, it has served patrons in a cozy space with a wide array of services, including:
- Print, digital and audio books.
- Magazines, DVDs/Blu-rays and music titles.
- Access to robust digital databases.
- Free Wi-Fi and public computers.
The Sarasota County History Center, established in 1977, supports the preservation and sharing of Sarasota County’s rich past. While a new state-of-the-art facility is under construction at the Fruitville Library, the current site continues to serve as a resource for local history and archival research.
