Bayview Park

Located on Bayview Lane in Osprey, Bayview Park is a 1.12-acre neighborhood park overlooking Little Sarasota Bay. Acquired in 2016 through the Neighborhood Parkland Acquisition Program, it offers a quiet, scenic spot for the community to enjoy.

Recent updates include new picnic tables, cleared vegetation, and improved views of the bay. The park sustained no major damage during the 2024 storm season and is currently open to the public.

 

 

West Bay Street Park

This 0.52-acre property is located on W. Bay Street in unincorporated Sarasota County, directly adjacent to the W. Bay Street right-of-way. With direct access to Little Sarasota Bay, the site offers valuable waterfront connectivity.

Recent improvements include the removal of a residential structure, repairs to the main building, and expanded parking. Additional upgrades—such as fencing and utility enhancements—are expected to be completed in the coming months.

Osprey Fishing Pier

The Osprey Fishing Pier offers more than just a place to cast a line—it also features a convenient kayak launch and one ADA-accessible parking space, making it a welcoming destination for a variety of outdoor enthusiasts.

While most of the site remains open for public use, the far end of the pier sustained storm damage and is currently closed for safety pending repairs.

Visitors are still encouraged to enjoy the accessible areas of the park, including the shoreline and launch access to Little Sarasota Bay.

 

Webb Street Park

Webb Street Park is located at the western end of the Webb Street right-of-way in Osprey. This small, peaceful spot offers a relaxing place to enjoy views of Little Sarasota Bay. Visitors can sit on a bench overlooking the water and take in the natural beauty along the riprap shoreline.

It’s a simple yet serene destination—perfect for a quiet moment by the bay.

 

Updates:

March 31, 2026

The amendment for the design contract for hurricane repairs at the Osprey Waterfront Parks has been submitted to procurement. The Parks design team is developing plans to expand water‑access opportunities at Bayview Lane Park.

February 28, 2026

The design‑build contractor has submitted a proposal for design services for hurricane repairs at the Osprey Waterfront Parks.  In addition, Parks design team is developing plans to enhance Bayview Lane Park with expanded low‑impact parking and improved water‑access opportunities.

January 31, 2026

A new mortise fence has been installed at West Bay Street Park around the parking area, providing improved safety and a more attractive look for visitors.

Next up,  new entry signs will be added at West Bay Street Park, Bayview Lane Park, and Webb Street Park.  Concept plans for the next phases of improvements at these parks will continue to be developed over the coming months. Additional updates will be shared as progress moves forward.

December 31, 2025

West Bay Street Park continues to see progress! In recent months, invasive vegetation along the right-of-way has been cleared, and a new parking area is now open for visitors. A contract to redesign the dock and shoreline areas damaged by the 2024 hurricanes has been submitted to park staff and is currently under review. Once approved, design work will continue through 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027.

Community Engagement Highlights – Osprey Waterfront Parks Public Meeting

On October 20, 2025, more than 120 community members gathered at the Osprey Public Library to participate in a public meeting focused on the Osprey Waterfront Parks.  Attendees learned about the parks,  received updates on storm recovery efforts, and reviewed preliminary concept plans for West Bay Street Park and  Bayview Park.

Following the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to view concept plans for West Bay Street Park and Bayview Park. Community members participated in a “dot exercise,” where they placed stickers on the amenities they most wanted to see in each park.

We sincerely thank everyone who attended and shared their input. Through conversations with staff during the dot exercise as well as comments and letters received after the meeting, we heard many suggestions for improvements to all four Osprey waterfront parks, including Osprey Fishing Pier and Webb Street. Your feedback is invaluable and will help guide the future improvements for these parks.
