SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the Fiscal Year 2025 budget.
This marks the 35th consecutive year the Sarasota County Office of Financial Management has been recognized for excellence in government budgeting.
The award recognizes more than 1,700 governments, including states, cities, counties, special districts and school districts, for their commitment to transparency in budgeting. To qualify, budget documents must meet transparency standards, excel as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communication tool according to GFOA.
“It’s a privilege to recognize the work of our team this year,” said Office of Financial Management Director Kim Radtke. “Alongside our team, we prioritize preparing outstanding financial planning and transparent reporting.”
Each year, the Office of Financial Management presents the budget to the public through a series of meetings, inviting input before final approval by the Sarasota County Board of Commissioners.
During the Feb. 25 Board of County Commissioners meeting, county leaders formally recognize team members for their role in this achievement.
