Sarasota County public information officers are in the office 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and rotate on-call and after-hours response.

County offices closed Martin Luther King Jr. holiday

SARASOTA COUNTY - Most Sarasota County Government offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 15, for the national observance of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.

Closed on Monday, Jan. 15: 

  • Libraries and Historical Resources' branches and office.
  • Breeze Transit administrative offices and ticket outlets will be closed. 
  • UF/IFAS Extension Office in Sarasota County.
  • Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources' recreation centers and the Knight Trail Park pistol and rifle range. 
  • The Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center, administrative office and The Re-Uz-It Shop at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, the Central County Landfill administrative office at 4000 Knights Trail Road and the Jackson Road Chemical Collection Center at 250 S. Jackson Road.
  • Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County.
  • Sarasota County Tax Collector.
  • Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections.
  • Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller. Services can be accessed online at www.SarasotaClerk.com.

Operating normal hours on Monday, Jan. 15: 

  • All Breeze services will operate regular hours.
  • Curbside collection services for trash, recycling and yard waste for residents in unincorporated Sarasota County will not be affected by the holiday and remain on the regular pickup schedule. Because collection times vary, residents should place materials at the curb by 6 a.m. the day of pickup.
  • Disposal operations at the Central County Landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road and the Citizens' Convenience Center at 4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All customers unloading by hand should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing.
