SARASOTA COUNTY - Join Sarasota County Libraries for an array of summer fun, laughter and learning for all ages. Check out some of these favorite events coming up in July:

Solar Eclipse Talk
NASA Ambassador Linda McKenna will talk about the upcoming solar eclipse, the first one the entire country will be able to see in over 99 years. Recommended for tweens, teens and adults, but all ages are welcome. For additional information, visit scgov.net/library and search key word "NASA" on the calendar page.

Do Dads Lab: Under Construction
Enjoy a comedy science show all about simple machines and construction science. Audience-involved experiments, original music, puppetry and laughter for all ages. Registration is required at some locations, check online at scgov.net/library or at the library's Service Desk.

Florida fossils
The Southwest Florida Fossil Club will showcase a fossil exhibit and teach participants the secrets of finding local fossils and how to identify them. Registration is required, seating is limited.

Light Bulb Art
Teens can create art on a lightbulb and illuminate their world. Registration is required, and seating is limited.

Jewelry Making Basics
Design and create and original bracelet or necklace. Learn jewelry design and fabrication skills and proudly wear your creation home. Program recommended for adults. Registration is required, and seating is limited.

Magic Show!
Jim Chartier's popular magic show is back this year with lots of laughs, magic, surprises and a train theme: The Loose Caboose Adventure. Seating is limited, and registration is required. Families are welcome.

Magic Class
Ever wonder how magicians learn their craft? This is your chance to find out! Magician Jim Chartier will conduct a special behind-the-scenes class for teens ages 11-18. Registration is required, and seating is limited. Participants will go home with a magical kit of their own.

Film Camp
Teens in grades 6-12 will meet daily for this two-week filmmaking camp and take on a wide range of topics from screenwriting to acting, music scoring and editing and creating a short film full of suspense. Registration is required.

Taiko Japanese Drumming
Discover the history of Taiko, the music of Japan. Enjoy a modern drumming performance followed by drum-making using discarded barrels that have been recycled into Taiko drums. Fun for all ages; registration requested.

Balinese Shadow Puppets
Welcome back Surapsari and be mesmerized by the mysterious shadow puppet theatre from the Indonesian island of Bali. Following the performance, make a shadow puppet of your own. For preschool ages and up, registration is requested and space is limited.

Writer's Circle with Frank Remkiewicz

Harry Potter Party
Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter with Butterbeer and Bertie Botts Bean tastings, wand making, scavenger hunts, a Harry Potter photo booth and more. Registration is requested.

ACT/SAT Strategies Session
Test scores are in for teens who took the June 20 ACT/SAT practice test. Accompanied by a parent, test scores may be picked up. In addition, a free strategies session is offered by The Princeton Review. Parents must remain with students during the session. Registration is requested.

Apocalypse Survival Series
Teens can build the supplies and learn the skills needed to survive the apocalypse. No registration required.
