DOH-Sarasota confirmed a positive test result of COVID-19 for a SCAT employee on Thursday, June 4.
The last day this employee was on duty was Tuesday, June 2. Contact tracing indicated exposure did not occur in the workplace. This operator drove SCAT Routes 3, 14, 40 and 100 from May 26 through June 2. DOH-Sarasota recommends anyone who rode these routes from those dates monitor themselves for possible symptoms.
If a passenger suspects they have been exposed or feels symptoms of COVID-19 they are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider, DOH-Sarasota or visit one of the free state-testing sites located at:
- Mall at University Town Center, Sarasota
- Robert L. Taylor Center, Sarasota
SCAT buses are thoroughly sanitized nightly and wiped down in-between each run. Riders are reminded that fares for SCAT and SCAT Plus are suspended to limit interactions and riders should enter through the rear doors and continue to practice social distancing. SCAT bus operators have been provided facemask, gloves, hand sanitizer and operational changes.

As of 11 a.m. June 4, here's where #SRQCounty COVID-19 cases have been detected in the county over the last 14 days. The map shows the “heat” or activity for the last 14 days, and the numbers in the legend are accumulative of all cases. This map was produced using data generated by the DOH to be searchable by zip code.
The data provided in the maps may differ because the local heat map incorporates data based on the physical address at the time of illness. The state reports data by zip code of residence. The local heat maps are designed as a planning tool to help the DOH better understand disease transmission and prevalence in our community. Jun 04 No information for likes
Without a summer session of Civics 101 planned, Thursdays have our Neighborhood Services team feeling nostalgic about their friends from sessions past. Prior modeling experience is not required to participate in the county’s citizens’ academy – but these students make it look easy!
