House District 72 Special Election scheduled for Feb. 13

(SARASOTA, FL)  - Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding registered voters in House District 72 that the district’s Special Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb.13.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voters must vote in their assigned precincts on election day, and must present a current and valid photo and signature identification upon check-in at the polling place. Valid IDs include a current Florida driver license, Florida ID card, U.S. passport, debit or credit card, military ID, student ID, retirement center ID, neighborhood association ID, public assistance ID, veteran health ID, a concealed carry permit or a government employee ID. Voters who do not produce the required ID at the polling place will be offered a provisional ballot.  

Turner also recommends voters research their polling locations before heading out to vote. Voters may visit or call (941) 861-8619 for assistance. Polling place information is also printed on the Voter Information Card that is issued to every voter. 

Finally, Turner reminds voters who vote by mail that, to be counted, their marked ballots must be received in the elections office no later than 7 p.m. on election night. Vote-by-mail ballots may be returned by mail or in person to any elections office, and may not be left at a precinct on election day.

(Note: Early voting for this election began Saturday, Feb. 3 and will continue through Saturday, Feb. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, at the elections office in the Sarasota County Terrace Building, the North Sarasota Library, and Westfield Sarasota Square Mall.)
