Big League Reader program returns Feb. 5
For the eighth consecutive year, Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources and the Baltimore Orioles are teaming up to promote reading through the Orioles’ Big League Reader program. Children ages 6-18, who sign up for the program and read three books between Feb. 5 and March 1, will receive a reserved grandstand ticket to the March 10 major league spring training game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Children may obtain a scorecard from any Sarasota County library, read three books by March 7, and return to the library to get their completed scorecard stamped. The first 100 readers who read three books will get a free T -shirt when they return to the library to get their scorecards stamped.
Readers may redeem their completed scorecard at the Orioles box office at Ed Smith Stadium, 2700 12th St., Sarasota, prior to March 7 for their free tickets. The March 10 game is at 1:05 p.m. at Ed Smith Stadium.
