Venice voter registration deadline Oct. 9

Monday, Oct. 9 is voter registration deadline for Nov. 7 City of Venice General Election

Post Date:10/02/2017 10:30 AM

SARASOTA, FL – Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding voters that Monday, Oct. 9 is the last day a person can register to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 7 city of Venice General Election.

Turner said new voter registration applications must be completed, signed and returned in person or by mail by the Oct. 9 deadline.

Effective Oct. 1, Florida residents may register to vote or update their voter registration online at www.RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov.

Once a new application is processed and approved, the elections office will notify the voter of his/her eligibility by sending a Voter Information Card that includes the voter’s precinct and other important voting information.

Paper applications may also be picked up at three elections offices in Sarasota, Venice and North Port, at public libraries, military recruitment offices, and public assistance offices, and may be downloaded at www.SarasotaVotes.com. Applications may also be submitted through any driver license or tax collector’s office that issues Florida driver licenses or Florida ID cards.

Voters who need to update their signatures since the last election must complete a paper voter registration application and submit it to the elections office prior to the start of the canvass of vote-by-mail ballots, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Turner recommends that voters verify their registration status before the book closing deadline by visiting www.SarasotaVotes.com or by calling the supervisor of elections at 861-3760 for assistance.
