Labor Day closures
Most government services and offices closed in observance of Labor Day
Sarasota County is reminding the community to "pack in and pack out" all items and trash over the Labor Day weekend.
SARASOTA COUNTY - Most Sarasota County Government offices, including the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of Labor Day.
All Sarasota County libraries and recreation centers will be closed Sept. 4, and Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) will not operate that day. However, the Siesta Key Breeze will be operating from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 4.
There will be no solid waste pickups Sept. 4, and collection service will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.
The Central County Landfill at 4000 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis, as well as the Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center at 8750 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota and the Citizens Convenience Center at 4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis, will be closed Sept. 4.
Payne Park Tennis Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 4; Arlington Park and Aquatic Center will also be open noon to 5 p.m.
Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources offers some friendly reminders to help everyone have an enjoyable holiday weekend at their favorite public beaches:
- Beach visitors are asked to "pack out" all items and trash they "pack in" and to use the trash and recycling receptacles located at beach entry points, pavilions and restrooms. Additional dumpsters will also be available.
- Yellow trash bags and disposable ashtrays will be available for use.
- Grilling is only allowed on grills provided within the park.
- For everyone's safety, no glass bottles are allowed at the park.
