Sarasota County’s Solid Waste team will make 50 local seniors’ holiday brighter this year!
For the third year, the Solid Waste staff participated in the Herald Tribune’s annual shoe box gift collection, putting together 50 shoe boxes for seniors that included assorted items ranging from a fleece blanket to cookies to puzzle books.
Using proceeds from the county landfill’s snack station, Solid Waste used $517 of the more than $625 collected to fill the 50 shoe boxes.
Congrats to Drew Kimball, a fifth-grade student at Pine View School who was selected from the hundreds of entries to be featured on the 2018 NEST Calendar cover! Drew and the other winners were recognized at this morning's county commission meeting.
