UF/IFAS Extension: Horticulture CEU Update

  • 8:45-9:35 a.m.-Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 
    Reviews proper use of PPE, including reducing the potential for human exposure to pesticides and risks of pesticide poisoning.
  • 9:40-10:30 a.m.-Pesticides and the Environment
    Reviews prevention methods for pesticide environmental hazards including groundwater contamination and toxicity to non-target organisms e.g. birds, aquatic organisms, and bees; interpretation of pesticide labels and pesticide formulations. 
  • 10:30 a.m. – BREAK
  • 10:40-11:30 a.m.-Landscape Maintenance BMPs: Turf and Ornamentals
    Reviews appropriate cultural and fertilization practices to promote healthy turf and landscape ornamentals; identification and management of common insects and diseases affecting shrubs including use of IPM strategies and low-toxicity pesticides.
  • 11:35 a.m.-12:25 p.m.-Landscape Maintenace BMPs: Palms and Trees 
    Reviews management of palm and tree species, including appropriate cultural and fertilization recommendations; identification and management of common insect and disease problems affecting palms and trees, using IPM strategies and low-toxicity pesticides. 
  • 12:30 p.m. CEUs
