Join UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County for a guided walk focused on Florida’s amazing and unique ecosystems.
Participants will explore environmentally sensitive lands preserved in Sarasota County and learn what makes these areas so special, including the plants and animals that inhabit them, watershed-wise practices, and the management challenges involved in conserving natural lands for future generations. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through some of the county’s most beautiful preserves while discovering why these areas are important and how they are cared for.

Parking and meeting location: Osprey Road parking area.
Trail accessibility information: Trail surfaces include sandy or mowed natural areas with some uneven terrain and deep sand. Boardwalks are present and may be slippery after rain or high tides. Trails near bay and mangrove shorelines may experience temporary flooding. Uneven terrain, roots, and stumps are common. Pedestrian walk-throughs and chicane gates are required to enter the preserve. Some trails may be closed during bald eagle nesting activity. Instructors may choose routes with varied terrain, surfaces, and changes in elevation.
