UF/IFAS Extension: WEBINAR - Some Like It Hot: Heat-Tolerant Vegetables You Can Plant Now

Free Event

  • Date: 05/11/2020 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

WEBINAR

Has the gardening bug bitten you? Interest in edible gardening is rising, but Floridians have one pesky problem. This isn't the peak season to plant popular crops like lettuce, tomato, and broccoli. So what do you do?

Adapt. By planting the right plant in the right place at the right season, you're more likely to experience a successful harvest. This webinar will provide tips for summer success and provide information on seven specific crops you can plant now: sweet potato, watermelon, eggplant, cherry tomato, cucumber, peanut, and seminole pumpkin.

This webinar is taught by long-time gardeners that have successfully grown edible crops in Florida for many years. Our speakers are Arnie Barish and Bill Wegmann, Master Gardeners and Community Garden Volunteers with UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County. We anticipate allowing time at the end of the webinar for a brief Q&A with Arnie and Bill. The webinar is moderated by Mindy Hanak, Community and School Garden Coordinator, UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County
