WSLR 96.5 FM Community Radio

WSLR 96.5 FM Community Radio is an innovative, listener-supported, non-profit, non-commercial FM radio station dedicated to serving the Sarasota community. WSLR features locally produced programming and presents cultural, artistic, and political perspectives currently underrepresented in the media. Our goal is to inform and empower listeners to play an active role in WSLR and in their community. WSLR's programming promotes equality, peace, sustainability, democracy, health, and social and economic justice.

WSLR incorporates a number of green measures throughout its operation. The studio actively participates in recycling efforts. Staff use reusable cups and wares, furniture is repurposed and reused, and the station has an extensive library of used records and CDs. The station uses only non-toxic cleaning products and have implemented a no-scent policy.

The studio looks to support local organizations and programs, such as Transition Sarasota's eat local program, whenever possible. The station is also set to launch a new radio program related to sustainability.

WSLR shares a location with the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center. This allows the studio to utilize the benefits of the 5kW photovoltaic solar system, LED lighting, metal roofing system and soy-based spray insulation on the ceiling and walls. Additionally, WSLR has a solar water heater system on the facility's rooftop, instant hot water tank, and two 550-gallon cisterns that collect rainwater for reuse.
