Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles Spring Training facility at Ed Smith Stadium scores a grand slam by meeting, and exceeding many of the environmental standards in the Green Business Partnership program. Seventy percent of Ed Smith Stadium's annual electricity use is offset by renewable energy sources. Solar panels heat locker room water. Reclaimed water is used for toilet flushing in restrooms. Reflective roofing materials reduce the heat island effect. The fields and landscaping are irrigated with reclaimed water. Fans can't miss the abundant 'Fan Can' recycling stations modeled after an Orioles batting helmet. The site is bicycle and public transportation accessible.

The Baltimore Orioles and OriolesREACH play an active part in our local community through their Sarasota 365 program. Sarasota County Libraries, Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota County, Goodwill, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, All Faith's Food Bank, and Keep Sarasota County Beautiful are just a few that have benefited from the Orioles outreach and community involvement efforts.
