It's in your best interest to ensure that the contractor you hire is properly licensed and insured to perform work in Sarasota County.

This protects you as a homeowner, property owner, or tenant, and also protects the contractor and assures that the work is done safely and completed according to all building code requirements.

To file a complaint through Sarasota County about a contractor, fill out the Contractor Complaint Form and submit it to our office via:
Complaints against state-certified contractors also can be filed with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Request a complaint form via:
Complaints against certified, registered and locally licensed contractors can be filed with Contractor Licensing as long as the violation has occurred in our jurisdiction. We can address building code violations but not contractual disputes, fee and price disputes or quality of workmanship issues.
 
Reports of unlicensed contracting or work without a permit should be reported to Code Enforcement.
