CPA 2014-G "East West Connector and Overpass"

A publicly initiated amendment proposed to modify Figures 6-9 and 6-10, the Year 2025 Future Thoroughfare Plan of the Transportation Chapter, to add a proposed I-75 overpass roadway connection between Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and Cattlemen Road, and a second phase extension of the roadway to Honore Avenue.

  • Planning Commission (PC) recommended approval on Dec. 15, 2016 (7/0 vote).
  • Transmittal Public Hearing BCC on Jan. 24, 2017 approved resolution to transmit to DEO (5/0 vote).
 

 2015-A "Beachwalk Preserve"

 

Comprehensive Plan Amendment 2015-A (“Beach walk Preserve”) was a privately-initiated amendment to revise the Future Land Use designation from MEC to MODR on 93 acres, located on South River Road and west of Paul Morris Drive. The amendment is associated with RZ15-12 and an amendment to 89-01-SP (Pine St., Dearborn St., South River Road Sector Plan).

  • PC recommended approval on Feb. 4, 2016 (5/1 vote). Adopted by BCC on July 12, 2016 (5/0 vote).
  • Ordinance No. 2016-012. Date: (Sept. 12, 2016).
CPA 2015-C " Palmer Ranch Increment IV A8 and A9"
A comprehensive plan amendment proposed by a private property owner, to revise the FLU designation from MODR and MEC to MEDR. The amendment is associated with Rezone 15-23 and NOPC-4 2015. 
  • PC recommended approval on March 24, 2016 (6/2 vote). 
  • Adopted by BCC on May 10, 2016 (5/0 vote).
  • Ordinance No. 2016-039. Effective Date: July 9, 2016.
 CPA  2015-F "Grand Lakes"
Grand Lakes 2050 Village “Enclave”– Comprehensive Plan Amendment 2015-F, a privately-initiated amendment, submitted by a private property owner, to revise 2050 Village policy to allow the application of new “Village Enclave” standards to approximately 517 acres on Ibis Road, south of Clark Road. The amendment is associated with RZ 16-07.
  • PC recommended denial on Sept. 15, 2016 (7/0 vote).
  • Denied by BCC on Oct. 26, 2016 (5/0 vote).
CPA 2015-G "2050 Greenbelts and Open Space Publicly-Initiated" Sarasota 2050 Greenbelts and Open Space (publicly –initiated) – a comprehensive plan amendment proposed by Sarasota County Planning Services to introduce policy changes that would allow the reduction of the Open Space and Greenbelt Buffer requirements when certain criteria are met.
  • Board authorization to proceed on July 13, 2016.
  • Public meetings on Jan. 18 and 25, 2017.
CPA 2015-H "Desoto Apartments"2015-H "Desoto Apartments"
A privately-initiated comprehensive plan amendment, submitted by a private property owner, to revise the FLU designation of approximately 18 acres at southeast quadrant of Honore Ave. and DeSoto Road from MEDR to HDR. The amendment is associated with RZ 16-16.
  • Board approved authorization to proceed on March 22, 2016.
  • PC recommended approved on Oct. 6, 2016 (5/2 vote). Transmittal Public Hearing.
  • BCC on Nov. 9, 2016 was continued to Jan. 10, 2017 and approved resolution to transmit to DEO (5/0 vote).
CPA 2016-A "Fox Creek"
A privately-initiated comprehensive plan amendment, submitted by private property owner, to revise the FLU designation of approximately 137 acres at the northeast corner of Richardson Road and Wendell Kent Road from MEC and MODR to HDR. The amendment is associated with RZ16-18.
  • PC recommended denial on Dec. 15, 2016 (6/1 vote).

The application was amended prior to the BCC Transmittal Hearing to include only a FLU map amendment for +32.7 acres from Major Employment Center (MEC) to Moderate Density Residential (MODR) (>2 du and < 5 du/acre).

  • Transmittal Public Hearing BCC on Jan. 25, 2017 approved resolution to transmit to DEO (5/0 vote).
CPA 2016-F "Scott Houghton Property"
A privately-initiated comprehensive plan amendment, proposed by Robert Medred, Agent, to revise the FLU designation of approximately 19 acres located at the northeast corner of Tatum Road and Fruitville Road, from Semi-Rural to Major Employment Center.
 
CPA 2017-A "Palmer Ranch Future Thoroughfare Amendment"
A privately-initiated comprehensive plan amendment, proposed by Stantec Consulting Services, Agent, to revise the Sarasota County Year 2040 Future Thoroughfare Plan, consisting of Table10-5, 2040 Future Thoroughfare Plan Roads, Map 10-8, Year 2040 Thoroughfare Plan (Functional Classification), and Map 10-9, Year 2040 Thoroughfare Plan (By Lanes) as follows: extend Bay Street, a 4-lane Major Collector Roadway eastward from Honore Avenue, across Interstate 75 to North-South Roadway A; and add a new unnamed 2-lane Minor Collector Roadway between S.R. 681 and Honore Avenue.
 
CPA 2017-B "Grand Lakes"
A privately-initiated comprehensive plan amendment, proposed by Kelley Klepper, Agent, to revise FLU Policy VOS 1.2a for a 533 acre property located at 7000 Ibis Road, to waive the requirement for a Village Center.
 
SA 2016-01 "Palm Grove Mennonite"
A comprehensive plan amendment proposed by a private property owner, to revise the FLU designation of approximately 3.2 acres at 1087 Beneva Road, Sarasota from MODR to OFFMF. The amendment is associated with RZ 16-02.
  • PC recommended approval on June 16, 2016 (7/0 vote).
  • Adopted by BCC on Sept. 20, 2016 (5/0 vote). Ordinance No. 2016-061.
SA 2016-02 "Cattlemen Ranch Apartments"
A comprehensive plan amendment proposed by a private property owner, to revise the FLU designation on approximately 4.7 acres from MODR to HDR. The amendment is associated with RZ 16-03.
 
SA 2016-03 "Stickney Point Road Retail Center"
A comprehensive plan amendment proposed by a private property owner, to revise the FLU designation on approximately 1 acre on the west side of Stickney Point Road, south of Couver Drive, Sarasota, from MEDR to Community Commercial Center.
  • PC recommended approval on Sept. 15, 2016 (9/0 vote).
  • Adopted by BCC on Nov. 22, 2016 (5/0 vote). Ordinance No. 2016-068.
SA 2016-04 "Stockyard"
A comprehensive plan amendment proposed by Bo Medred, Agent, to revise the FLU designation on approximately .59 acres parcel located west of Cattlemen Road and south of Jakl Avenue, Sarasota, from MODR to Major Employment Center.
  • PC recommended approval on Oct. 6, 2016 (7/0 vote).
  • Adopted by BCC on Nov. 22, 2016 (5/0 vote). Ordinance No. 2016-073.
