Proper treatment and reuse or disposal of domestic wastewater is essential for protecting water.

Air and Water Quality has delegated authority over Domestic Wastewater in Sarasota County and works with wastewater utilities and the citizens of Sarasota County to protect and conserve our water resources.

 Collection System/Transmission System (CSTS) Permits

 

Installing a CSTS or connecting to central sewer?

You may require a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) CSTS permit.

Domestic Wastewater Forms (from the Florida FDEP)
 
Sarasota County Air and Water Quality issues CSTS permits as a delegated local program of the FDEP.
 
CSTS permits are issued by Air and Water Quality under the provisions of Chapter 403, Florida Statutes (F.S.), and Chapters 62-4 and 62-604, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.).

Florida reuses over 670 million gallons of reclaimed water each day to conserve freshwater supplies and replenish rivers, streams, lakes and the aquifers.

Expanding water reuse programs is a key component to conserve our water resources.
